Our numerous Committees and Interest Groups will be discussing the varied and important work they are currently doing. Please join one (or more today).

Our committees include Observer Corps (members attend all Tuolumne County Board of Supervisors, Sonora City Council, and Tuolumne Utility District meetings); Voter Services (voter registration, education, and outreach); and Membership (empowering our members to do more).

Our Interest Groups include Water (currently studying the multiple and complicated water systems within our counties, where does our water come from); Fire (focusing on education of ourselves and our local communities); Homelessness (after completing a two year study of this critical issue we are now doing advocacy and action).

¨ If you are having trouble getting through to your elected officials, contact the White House switchboard. There is always someone there answering the phone. Call 202-516-1111 to leave comments or 202-456-1414 for the switchboard.

¨Stick to the subject, one issue at a time.

¨Have your script ready, know what you want to say. Be clear and concise.

¨Remember the League’s 10 Ways to Defend Democracy: 1. Sign up for the League of Women Voter’s Action Alerts; 2. Become an e-Activist; 3. Volunteer Your Time; 4. Donate to our Defend Democracy Fund; 5. Spread the Word; 6. Attend a Community Meeting; 7. Register to Vote, and Help Others Register; Contact your Representatives; 9. Run for Office; and 10. Write a Letter to the Editor (all highlighted text are links).
